In this project, an electrical smart grid is simulated, in "stress-test" conditions. The project is taking place at the JRC European Interoperability Laboratory in Ispra, Italy (SGILab).
The tests are being performed using a microgrid with conventional inverters by pushing their power penetration rate up to the stability limit. The same tests will be performed using synchronverters.
Conclusions regarding the potential contribution of the synchronverters to the achievement of the energy-policy targets will be drawn.
